UWDB!

Fun day yesterday. First going to play pool with Xin at UWP.Then playing table tennis with Jeffrey and Xin at V1Alright, we all know Xin always talks about his Dragonboat team and I have to say, they are pretty cool (Many of them also love the Beatles). Partying with them was crazy to say the least. George, the 7 foot tall guy is so jokes, rapping to random songs. They kept trying to convert me to be a Dragonboat member but I'm not sure if they know I'm not even from Waterloo!I got pretty messed up too. You know what I found out? When I drink I think I'm able to dance to 'Wedding Dress'. Which I can not.... But enough about what happened to me, Xin was gone last night! First one out, which I know sounds bad but he took alot before he blacked out (puking everywhere in George's room, including his computer!). Calvin passed out a bit after Xin but at least he wasn't puking everywhere. Thank you Siva for coming to Loo for the party even if you're in co-op. You didn't pass out and partied all night with me!

I remember we wanted to play a new game no one has ever played before so a guy grabbed a bunch of poker chips and a LCBO bag and yes, we invited a new drinking game. Maybe not new, I'm sure other people have done it before, but wow, being able to make up random crap when you are drunk is shocking.
Drunk Xin + Jenga = Funniest thing ever

So Xin had a bit too much to drink. What killed him was 'fuck the dealer'. With a name like fuck the dealer I have no idea why Xin volunteered to be the dealer, but hey, I'm glad he had fun.
Tipsy Xin on his iPhone

Drunk Xin falling and begging for help

Passed out Xin rolling on the ground

Siva and a woken up Xin finding the four empty 1.75L of vodka!
How did we do it!

So I'm not sure when the party ended but basically everyone left at once but me and Siva had to stay behind and wait for Xin and Calvin to wake up. I remember George telling us "don't take the beers in the fridge, those are my roommate's." I'm sorry George, we drank them...
Hey hey hey, but we are nice guys, after we drank a few Heinekens we put them back in hopes they wouldn't notice we took anything.
Why is there 1 left not open!

Overall it was an exciting night. I remember waking up Calvin so we could get out of the place before George woke up. When Calvin asked why we responded because Xin barfed all over his room and we didn't want a 7footer killing us! The walk back home is always fun, especially with Calvin running like a crab because he was still pretty drunk.

Busted with clickers!

I was in EC140 and some girl had 2 clickers (one was her friends who skipped). And for anyone not familiar with iclickers, some professors use them as the participation marks and when some students skip they give their iclickers to a buddy to answer for them. They say doing that is just as bad as cheating on a test so I guess they take it pretty seriously. So this girl had 2 of them and the prof caught her and took them away, I felt so bad for her. Let me state this right now, if the prof ever catches me with 2 clickers, I'm going to simply run out the door because what can they do? Are they really going to chase me just to collect the clickers? Probably not haha.

Shout out to my business new venture team for getting the top mark in the class once again. Brap Brap, we're going all the way to finals!

Another good note is I finally got my laptop back! So excited about that! Finally, no more trying to understand Chinese instructions (other laptop was mostly in Chinese -__-) and I finally get my music back.

The Revolutionary 'iPad'

The long awaited new apple device is finally here! When Steve Jobs unveiled the 9.7-inch touchscreen tablet, which looks like a large iPhone, Apple quickly took a hit in the stock market but surprisingly it jumped back up once it was announced the price will start at $499 (16GB version). The iPad is supposed to be a "third category" of devices, a do-everything media gadget that can surf the Web, and play movies and video games. Sort of a hybrid of both the iPhone and a laptop.Fun Facts
The icons are like those on the iPhone, complete with a tray at the bottom, and the iPad runs on the iPhone's operating system. Jobs spent some time showing off some of the iPad's features, including e-mail and web browsing. It will ship with iTunes installed. It's powered by a 1GHz Apple A4 chip, and has 16GB to 64GB of flash storage. It has 10 hours of battery life and over a month of standby power. As said earlier the iPad will start at $499 U.S. for the 16GB version, while a 32GB model will cost $599 and a 64 GB model will cost $799. Versions of the iPad with built in 3G connectivity will cost an extra $130, ranging in price from $629 to $829. Because over 75 million iPhones and iPod touches are around the world, Apple expects a large amount of Apple users to already know how to operate the iPad. Jobs said the iPad will sync with a computer over a USB connection just like an iPod or iPhone.
*Not actually how it looks*

So will the iPad last?
Its hard to tell until I've tried it personally but you have to look at the market they are going for. A device thats the combination of the iPhone and laptop is great but you have to understand maybe people who already have laptops also have some sort of smart phone (whether iPhone or not). Will these people be willing to spend $500 for just a combination of the 2? The idea might be worth more than the actual product because consumers have never warmed to tablet computers, despite many previous attempts by other companies. But I was impressed with the technology that Apple showed off. The iPad has a near life-size touch keyboard, and comes with all the expected features, including a calendar, an address book and maps. We will have to see if Apple can start another trend

Apple has proved they are the head of the pack. The iPod revolutionized mp3s and the iPhone pushed cellphones above and beyond their limits, maybe the iPad will now revolutionize tablets.

Let the jokes begin

Apple isn't making it any easier on themselves by calling the tablet an 'iPad'. I'm not even going to say why because the topic itself is too distrubing to me. I sure hope Steve Jobs come up with a new name for it and I hope he does it soon.

'Men of a Certain Age'

Ray Romano has a new show called 'Men of a Certain Age' and even though only 7 episodes are out, I can tell its a show I will enjoy watching. Okay fine, its not as great as "Everybody Loves Raymond' but the show hits a different degree of audience. It seems Romano is aiming towards men age 30-65.The show will be a success because the jokes are relative to the real world. In 'Everyone loves Ray' the fights between Debra and Ray were actual arguements you can imagine in a married household and the jokes in 'Men of a Certain Age' are jokes you can see men joking about. I seem to enjoy the 40 minute shows more than the half and hour shows because it gives more plot.

And yes, Ray (or his name is Joe in the show) makes fun of his large nose in this show too which I found amusing.Overall I give this show 4/5 and recommended.

Douchebag of the day

Hey, its been a while since I've named my douchebag of the day and I wanted to make sure the next one I chose is a real dick. Its actually a group of people.

Today's DB of the day goes to the Vancouver police department.

And they say the Chinese are blind.....

Jiu-Jitsu, The Gentle Art

Everyone knows jiu-jitsu was originally created in Japan but I'm not going to touch on that because in my opinion the Brazilians are the ones who fully established the content of the "ground game".
Royce Gracie vs. Chad "Akebono" Rowan

Any one whos watched some of the first UFC tournaments would know the name Gracie and probably even Royce Gracie (in my opinion the most famous Gracie). I wouldn't say the first UFCs were some of the best fights but it was definately "interesting" to watch a 180 pound man make 300 pound men cry and tap. No weight classes meant a distinctive advantage for the bigger man, well.... that was the theory. Royce Gracie won 3 of the first 4 UFC tournaments from using a new style no one even heard of at the time. For this reason, I name him one of the best P4P fighters of all time because he was untouchable in his era. Of course its a different time now and you have to be a well diversified fighter to last in the UFC, but Gracie jiu-jitsu will always be known as the beginning of a new weapon in mma.

So why is my fighting style jiu-jitsu? Its simple, it promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themself against a bigger, stronger assailant using leverage and proper technique. I'm a normal Asian kid, and unfortunately we're not built super strong nor tall so being able to have a jiu-jitsu background always helps.

But if someone asks me if I'm a Brazilian jiu-jitsu fighter I'll have to say no. I'm a 10th planet jiu-jitsu artist. Like I said before, its a new era. BJJ is based on using the gi but TPJJ uses overhooks and underhooks which suits mma. Having a strong guard is one thing, but to be able to pull off the rubber guard brings a new element to the game and I think Eddie Bravo did a great job introducing it to the world, even if the jiu-jitsu community is not thrilled with him. But come on you can't hate him, even Joe Rogan is a brownbelt under Eddie!

The plan is to finish my degree here at Laurier and then take a year off to go to California to train with Eddie Bravo.

Brock Lesnar is Back!

The WWE days

Well no, hes not back just yet, but he will be, and did any of you really doubt he would return? Of course I'm truly greatful to hear his health is fine now but having him not return to the octagon never even went through my mind, hes one tough son of a bitch.
Becoming the HW Champion

Lesnar said he lost 40 pounds in a week after the illness was discovered, thats crazyy. I tend to fluctuate my weight alot by about 15 pounds, which I thought was a lot but thats nothing compared to Lesnar. Hes going to face the Winner of the Carwin/Mir fight some time in the summer. I want to see a rubber match between Mir and Lesnar but I don't see Carwin losing to Mir.Welcome back to the UFC Brock, although most people didn't miss your arrogant attitude, I'm a fan that can't wait to see you go Donkey Kong in the cage again.

Assistant to the Regional Manager

I talked about the Jim and Pam wedding a few times on my blog but other than that one episode (And maybe Scott's Tots), I feel the show has gone down hill. Giving Jim the promotion is one of the worst moves the writers could have done. Jim is supposed to represent the "rebel" within all office workers. Now that hes the co-manager, I'm sorry but hes an ass. If they wanted to promote someone, make it Dwight. It would be much more funny to see Jim break down the new co-manager rather than seeing him put an end to Michael's shenanigans. The office would probably look something like this with the D man in charge.

Don't get me wrong, I still love the Office.

Houston, we have volume

My NEW laptop already broke which just sucks. I'm using the oldest laptop I've ever seen, its like a brick... I just got the volume for this thing to work and hopefully it will only be a week of this laptop. And hopefully I'll get my other laptop back next week.

I dont think I'm supposed to use the laptop for an extended period because my eyes hurt from using it so long X__X

I should be thankful because a brick is better than nothing.

11:14pm - I learned my laptop is somewhat fixed but I won't get it until next week, maybe I'll go home again to pick it up.

Sick shot, sicker handshake

Now don't get me wrong, it was a sick shot but I just thought the handshake was pretty damn cool too.

Too hyper at night

This is probably the most nerd thing I will ever say but I'm so excited about business now because we are finally doing balance sheets in uni. Its about time! I'll probably complain about how useless they are in a week but for now I'm happy.

So why am I so hyper? Probably because I just ate a whole bunch of this.
Only the bestest candy ever! Yes, bestest!

Or maybe I'm excited about going home tomorrow. I have Friday classes this term but they are so useless. This is what I do in math:

1) Arrive there just on time
2) Do the question on the board based on last class
3) Sleep
4) Wake up
5) Do the question at the end to see if I understand what was taught
6) Get up and leave

Oh and I also found these pictures from New Years Eve, hope you enjoy Gary.
How come these remind me of Xin?

Oh, classic Gary.

A man of few 'smart' words

These are some of my favourite Mike Goldberg quotes. He may not be the best commentator for the UFC, but he still makes me laugh.Mike Goldberg: "He literally dodged a bullet!"
Joe Rogan: "Yeah, literally."

Mike Goldberg: "He's got him in some kind of strange choke I've never seen before!"
Joe Rogan: "That's a rear naked choke."Mike Goldberg: "He wants to get in close to use that reach advantage."

Mike Goldberg: "You know Joe, When Matt and his brother Mark Hughes were growing up they would pound each other behind the barn!"

*on Kenny Florian after taking a groin shot*
Mike Goldberg: "... So you want to be an Ultimate Fighter?"

Mike Goldberg: "You can hear the corner speaking portuguese!"
Joe Rogan: "Uh, that's Japanese, brother"
Mike Goldberg: "I should have known that."
Joe Rogan: "You're the one married to a Japanese chick."
Mike Goldberg: "That is correct."If MMA is 90% mental and 10% physical, UFC commentating should be 90% Rogan and 10% Goldberg.

Thank you for reading and I'll see you next time, inside the octagon.

A pain in the ass

I walked into my business class a minute early only to find all the seats were taken, I had to sit on the wet stairs. By the end of the lecture my butt was hurting from the floor -__-. It was such a horrible lecture experience.... Next time I'll make sure I go earlier. I hate those people who miss their morning classes so they come during afternoon lecture times!

At the gym today a skinny Asian kid went on the bench in front of me and put a 5 pound weight on each side of the bar. He must have slipped his hand or something because he couldn't lift it back and dropped it on himself and I had to help him. A few guys laughed around because it was such a light weight but I don't think they realized how dangerous the situation actually was.

A fun weekend overall but best part would probably be just getting back on xboxlive and playing MW2 with old friends (I know, I'm a 360 geek).

Oh internet, why do you hate me?

9pm: I go on Youtube and click on an 8 minute video
11pm: The video still isn't done loading

I'm serious when I say Laurier internet sucks.

Gay man of the decade

And the winner of the MMA ring girl of the year is....... Arianny Celeste! So the ring girl of the year was recently posted. To be honest I didn't even know such an award existed. Its a stupid award especially when she has no competition, Dana fired all of them. I'm not saying she would have lost the award if Logan was still in the UFC but giving her such an award is like saying Usain Bolt will win a 200m race, he has no one close to his league. If you watch the video of her receiving the award it seems like she doesn't even care. From one stupid award to another. Well, in my opinion, this award just sounds more cool. And the gay man of the decade goes to, wait for it...... Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris)!
Does he deserve it? To be perfectly honest with you, I have no clue, I don't follow the gay community but I'm glad he won it because its always great to have a legendary gay man tell half the men in the nation how to act.

*Barney: In my body, where the shame gland should be, there is a second awesome gland.*

*Lily is working on a painting of Barney holding a sword.
Lily: “I don't think your sword will fit.”
Barney: “I get that a lot.”*

Dexter

I remember when my cousin mentioned the show Dexter I was like "Isn't that a cartoon show?" Haha now that I'm done the entire show I can safely say they are nothing alike. Although both characters are some what bad guys....The show started a bit slow but the first season is definitely the best one. I didn't truly enjoying watching it until about episode 6 of that season because the episodes were about 50 minutes long. the 2nd and 3rd season weren't amazing but they were decent. The last season was well thought out and I liked how the entire show ended. I don't want to ruin the ending for any of you so I'll leave it at that.

I think one of the main reasons this show got such high ratings is because we all have a little bit of "Dexter" in us. Of course not to the extent of his killings, but we all have a 'dark side'.
Show Rating: Recommended if you enjoy mysteries and is not grossed out by bloody scenes.

Chuck Norris! + Drunk Mariah

I finally got my textbooks today meaning I actually have to start working. My theory was since I don't have my texts yet, how can I work? I think buying my books reminded me how much university costs! How am I supposed to be the next generation in business if I'm going to be living in poverty for the next 4 years! So in my BU121 class Laura was talking about accounting stuff because not all high schools teach it (which I thought was nice of her). Some random dude beside me was so annoying! Here is a cut down version of the conversation (Laura is speaking to the entire room and this guy is whispering to me).Laura: What do CMA and CA stand for?
Annoying dude: *Certified Management Accountant, Chartered Accountant*whispers
Laura: Do you know what GAAP is?
Annoying dude: *Generally Accepted Accounting Principles*whispers

There were more but its pretty much the same thing. The whole time I gave a >_> face because like come on.... we all know you know this, its like accounting 101, half the class knows it. No need to brag about simple knowledge, especially to a guy (me) that you don't even know.

Something that made me laugh today was when I was at the gym and there was a sign saying "Chuck Norris puts his weights away, why can't you?" Some reason I don't think these signs were working because there were weights all over the place without anyone using them.So after weights I went on the elliptical and at the WLU gym they have 4 tv screens at the top in front of 2 rows of 7 elliptical/treadmills (so 14 in total). The screen on the far right was on the Canada vs. USA medal game (re-run of course), the next one was on MuchMusic, the one after that was on the gold medal game again, and the far left one was on some random softcore porn channel -___-. Sad thing is no one changed that channel. It got too weird so I got off the elliptical after 15 minutes.

7:32
- WARNING: Don't open the door. For the people who follow this blog you I've talked about how one of my roommate's friend smells. Like I mean smells horrible. Sometimes when she does come over its not as bad, only a small whiff. Just right now I opened my door and BAM it was like something hit my entire body, you know that shit smell behind Denison? Its like 10x worse than that! The funny thing is she isn't even at my res! They left like 20 minutes ago! I think I now know why my roommate loves febreeze so much!

Oh No Canada

An overtime loss? Seems something the Leafs would do....My fellow Canadians don't be angered by the loss to the Americans. Think of it as giving them a false hope at the 2010 Olympics. You can't make a baby cry from taking away their candy if they never had it in the first place!
Even as winners you look like idiots

"In my life"

Just when you get a taste of how relaxing feels, you're back at school for another term. So the vending machine door was busted back in last term and last night Shaun came into my room and shouted "the vending machine door is open again!" while he was holding a few drinks. He was so happy haha. I have to say, I was tempted to get some myself but its so mean taking those drinks!

I forgot some stuff at home and won't get them until next week. Booo! But nothing beats Omar, he forgot his keys at home and couldn't get into his room so we were pretty much ready to break down the door. That would have been a great scene but Amanda came and opened the door for him, sighh..... too bad, breaking the door sounded more funny.

I have a Polish prof, a Swedish prof, and a Australian prof this term and all of them have a slight accent. Its going to be an interesting term.

"We can work it out"

*Dana can say how great this card became with all the finishes but it wasn't the same without Logan Stanton! UFC, you ruined a part of MMA for me!*

"Boring" Rashad Evans! Okay fine you can ripe on me for saying that after Rashad's win and after a pretty decent fight card. But the most exciting part of the fight was when Silva put his hands down to draw Evans in and almost finishes the Rashad on his feet.

The last thing I want to do is get my hopes up because Dana has failed me too many times. The Rashad vs Rampage fight will happen, that is a no brainer but are you ready for this? This is JUST rumors BUT the co-main event at UFC 113 may be the Rashad vs Rampage bout. So whats the other co-main event? Only the long awaited rematch between Shogun and Machida! I hope you guys are ready for war! Whats so special about UFC 113? I'm planning to go there with my cousin (Dennis) to Montreal! Right after 2nd term, how perfect is that?? Too perfect.....
Is that your best battle face Machida??

5 things that may go wrong:

1) An injury occurs (if so, please make it less servear than what happened to Brock Lesnar)
2) We aren't able to get tickets (they get sold out in 24 hours)
3) Something comes up and either me and/or Dennis aren't able to go
4) The fight does not happen because Rampage will be busy shooting the sequel of the A-Team
5) Dana doesn't put the fight on the card so he can stack another card not in Canada
Time for some Black on Black Violence!

UFC, please make this happen!

This is where I live "Eight Days a Week"

*Btw if you have not noticed, I'm going to put some Beatles songs as my title sometimes*

So I wanted to do something different since reading gets boring sometimes. Here is a quick video of my res. If you want to meet my roommates you will have to come first hand because I made the video when they all went home haha.
Five stars for the Asian display picture above!

I'll try to add vlogs in here every so often.

UFC 108: Evans vs Silva

Fight prediction: Rashad Evans* via unanimous decisionNow, this fight will probably be a close fight and I can see the fight going both ways. The only reason I say Evans will win is because I believe he will go back to his superior wrestling abilities. After the Machida fight I think he realized knocking someone out is great but only if you're not on the receiving end.If the fight stays standing up I'm sorry Rashad but I see Silva ending it with a TKO. People keep saying how Evans is SO fast with his hands but Thiago is no slouch with his speed. I'll give Rashad a slight advantage there, but not much. Thiago will pick apart your every weakness and capitalize on any chance he sees.

Both fighters are at the top of the LHW division and I'm sure both of them will have strong game plans going into the fight, it will all come down to execution.

Rashad you better win for your boy Jardine.
